The Brenham Police Department Explorer Post 161 is an advanced scouting program which introduces young people to the law enforcement field and encourages them to stay within the field after graduation from high school and/or college. Members of the Explorers perform community service and work with local citizen and civic organizations. Currently, the program has two competition teams that participate and in state and national competitions. The Explorers meet the first and  third Thursdays of each month.
